I have just installed Windows Server 2003 (latest service pack and hotfixes) with DNN 4.5.1 accessing a SQL Server 2000 database with the latest service pack.

The install went fine and I can access the website from the server using IE7. When I attempt to access the website from another computer I receive the message "This program cannot display the webpage". I have turned off friendly error messages and this is all I can get. I am not sure what the difference is.

If I access the server via telnetting to port 8080 (where the site is hosted), I can issue a GET command to the root of DNN and receive a Document Moved... may be found here... and then the connection is lost.

I thought this was a security problem (and still think that it is) so I tried it on my Windows XP development box and everything works fine locally but when I attempt to access IIS on XP from another machine the same problem occurs.

Does anyone know what could be causing the problem as I am running out of ideas? Thanks.

Mark

did you add the external address as portal alias? Login as host user, go to portals in host menu, select the portal and scroll down the settings page. add the external address as additional alias entry.

Yep... all done. It works now... Thanks. I believe the error message should be a little better than it is though.
