I am a newbie to this, agreed. But...
I have had Dotnetnuke installed (4.5.0) for a short period of time, that is it only ran as localhost/dotnetnuke which is fine for testing purposes but not for distribution or actual use.
I then started messing a bit with host header values, but it didn't work. I did remember the aliases, but still no luck, everytime I ended up getting the Server application Unavailable. Even when using the localhost/dotnetnuke I still got Server application unavailable, IISreset solved that one each time however, but I didn't manage to get host headers to work.
Right, I then wanted to create a new website making a virtual directory under this website using the directory from the functioning localhost/dotnetnuke. This made the hole thing collapse, haven't been able to get it to work since. Numerous different errors depending on the problem I try to solve.
So, I started all over... But this time I can't even get the wizard to work ( a hint for the developers, where are the guides???) still getting error upon error and I'm virtually running out of both patience and time...
Isn't it possible to get a step by step guide, other than the very brief guides found in Blogs, forum posts and soforth? I really would like to use dotnetnuke, but I simply do not have the time for continuous struggle. Can someone help me out here? Thanks.
