I have a similar problem. I have upgraded and now can't login with any of the user accounts that were previously there. I can register a new user and login with them but if I logout and try login again, i get it but I have an error thrown.

A critical error has occurred.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I did find this error in the logs.

I have just corrected my problem. When i copy the applicationid for each user in aspnet_users the problem seems to correct itself.
