Email sending

Hi There

I have a question for you. I and trying to send emails from the newsletter module and I never receive the emails.

But when I send the email I get a confirmation on the top of the module stating that the email was sent correctly

any suggestions

The confirmation simply means the email was handed off to the SMTP server without errors. Between the sending server and your mailbox any number of things can happen. Most likely is your ISP blocked it as SPAM or your own spam filters caught it. Check SMTP logs to see and check your quarrantine.

Hi There

Here is a screen shot of my configuration page

DNN sates that the email was sent. I receive the email confirmation from the webmaster of the site

All this is fine but once I try to send email with the info letter nothing works

any ideas ?

Performance Settings

Page State Persistence:

Select the mode to use to persist a page's state. This can either be a hidden field on the Page (Default) or in Memory (Cache).

Module Caching Method:

Memory caching provides the most flexibility and is the highest performance method however it also consumes the most system resources. Disk caching is the least expensive on resources but does not offer any flexibility.

Select how to optimize performance.

Sets the Cache-Control HTTP header value for authenticated users.

Compression Setting:

Select the type of Http Compression to use.

Compression Level (Deflate):

Use Whitespace Filter:

Select this to remove excess white space from the response sent to the client - this will result in a smaller download (10-15%) but it will make the html less readable.

Disable Users Online?

You can optionally disable the Users Online feature

Users Online Time (Minutes):

Enter the length of the Users Online Buffer

Auto-Unlock Accounts After (Minutes):

After an account is locked out due to unsuccessful login attempts, it can be automatically unlocked with a successful authentication after a certain period of time has elapsed. Enter the number of minutes to wait until the account can be automatically unlocked. Enter "0" to disable the auto-unlock feature.

File Upload Extensions:

Enter the allowable file extensions (separated by commas)

Skin Upload Permission:

Select whether Skin Upload is restricted to the "Host" Account or can be done by Site Administrators

Scheduler Mode:

The Timer Method maintains a separate thread to execute scheduled tasks while the worker process is alive. Alternatively, the Request Method executes tasks when HTTP Requests are made. You can also disable the scheduler by selecting Disabled.

Enable Event Log Buffer?

Checking this will cause log entries to be logged to memory and then purged regularly to the data store. Unchecking it will cause log entries to be written immediately.

Help URL:

Enter the URL for the Online Help you will be providing. If you leave the entry blank then no Online Help will be offered for the Admin/Host areas of DotNetNuke.

Enable Module Online Help:

You can enable or disable the Online Help Action Menu for Modules. If enabled, you will need to provide the Help Url for the module, in the Module Definitions, although this may have been provided by the developer of the module.

Auto-Sync File System?

Check this box to automatically synchronize the file system.

Why is your SMTP server blank? Be sure to fill in the field and hit UPDATE at the bottom of the page before you try using the newsletter functionality. If you just hit TEST it won't save the setting to the DB

Also, if this is an anonymous access SMTP server (meaning it will allow you to send email without logging in) then it doesn't need a username.
