Have a couple of questions about sitemaps and particularly the sitemap.aspx

  • Am i right in thinking that l I need to do is submit the url www.mywebsite.com/sitemap.aspx to google and job done?
    • I tried that and google returned with errrors about the format of the map
  • Does sitemap.aspx create a file called sitemap.xml each time its run?
  • Once i've submitted the sitemap (sitemap.xml) to google is that the end of it or do i need to re-submit it when changes have been made?

What you need to do on google is the following.

1.  From your google account go to the "Webmater Tools" page
2.  Click Add Site (Add your URL),
3.  Click to add a sitemap, put your sitemap URL in
4.  Submit it

That is all you have to do, Google will automatically check back and the page will automacially update if new content is added.

I tried adding the URL www.mysite.com/sitemap.aspx to google but it said it had an error

"This url is not allowed for a Sitemap at this location."

URL: http://www.dotnetnuke.com
Date found:Apr 19, 2007

For the life of me I can't find any link to dotnetnuke.com on my website, not that I'm trying to hide all the hard work the teams have put it you understand.

Is the DNN link added automatically by the core

Under host settings do you have "show copyright" turned off?  If not try turning it off
