Hi all,
I'm new to DNN and i'm looking for a method to deploy web services in a DNN portal.
The only "tutorial" i found is the Tom Lucas one at http://www.wwwcoder.com/Directory/tabid/68/type/art/site/1808/parentid/224/Default.aspx
but it dates 2003 (and it need to rebuild the core library)... so i'm wondering if does exist a more up to date solution.

Thank you in advance,
Alex.

Hi Alex,

I use web services "inside" DNN quite frequently.  All you have to do is create a "module" that installs the DLL and asmx files you need, and set up your manifest to install them...  I usually include a "fake" module (ascx file) with a simple message indicating that the module is a placeholder for web services in case end users try to place the module on a page.

Check out this module. It is written by a core team member and even allows you to control which DNN roles have access to each web method.  With this all you need to di it write you web methods.  You can even put the methods in their own asmx file, as long as it inherits the webservices namespace (uses partial classes).
