Hi Alan,
I installed the newest 03.03.08 version (from yesterday) on DNN 451.

Here are some issues I found:

I set skin to “Small” and checked “Disable Month View Cell Events”
1. Issue EVT-5500 is still not fixed.

2. If you create an event that last more than one week, in the week view will be displayed event only for the fist week , and not the second, 3rd etc.

Thanks a lot for a hard work.

Regards
Goran

Hi Alan,
Sorry I was not clear enough and not fully correct in the previous posting, Please do not consider my previous post.
Here is again corrected and more detail and corrected report.

1. skin is set to Small and “Disable Month View Cell Events” is checked and I use Month view..

If events last one or more days, if you click on the first day it will display: “No events for selected date...”.
If you click second day, it will display event with:

START Day = Today
End day = Originally End Day + 1

For the 3rd day would be :
START Day = Today
End day = Originally End Day + 2
Etc.

2. weekend view – if event lasts more then one week, for example start this week and ends in the middle of the next weeks, it display event that last WHOLE next week, and not till the middle of the next week.

thanks
Goran

Hi Alan,

I activated the setting: Prevent Schedule Conflict.
But it is still possible to create multiple (unmoderated) events in the same time period. Shouldn't that be prevented or does it depend on other settings?
I have V 3.3.8 from 05/22 installed.
Thanx

I want to download this version, however, the advanced.net site is not loading.  Anyone have a direct link?  (The reason for the updates is that I  cannot get 3.3.7 to work with DNN 4.5.1)

The site doesn't appear to load in Firefox... but it's actually there, you just have to scroll down. It works correctly in IE.

Hi Alan,

I've just been running through some usage tests of the latest version off your site, from the 22nd. I understand that it has entered the release tracker, so just save the feedback for the next version. I set up a fresh DNN 4.51 for this and did not let it install the previous Events module.

To clarify the usage scenario here:

  1. A subpage has the primary events module in full month view. The site owner has edit rights (but not Admin rights) for this module and manages their events here.

  2. The homepage has a secondary events module, which is linked to the primary. This intention is to make this one as small as possible to fit in a side column whilst displaying meaningful information. This means it is set to List View and has no table header and all items other than the event name are removed from the list. The site owner does not have edit rights for this module and doesn't need them.

  3. I inserted just two basic events for the test, with no categories, no rsvp's, no payments, nothing but just a date, time, image and a bit of text.

I'll try and be succinct about the results:

  • Module List view setting not respected
The secondary (homepage) module is set to List as the only view and the site owner does not have edit rights for this module. But when the site owner logs in, the module flips to month view.  It should display as a list unless otherwise told.
I recall that the old module had a setting "Disable Event Month View Table for non-edit users" that I think dealt with this.

  • Vanishing events
In both events modules, ticking "disable Month View Cell events" causes the module to report no events on days where there are events. It correctly displays those days in red (small theme) or black (default theme) indicating that events are there, but when clicked, it reports: "No events for selected date...  Return". The "disable Month View Cell events" setting used to simply disable the text and image within the cell and only indicate events by the colouring of the date.

  • Event editing rights don't agree with displayed link.
When the site owner is logged in and clicks to view event details from the secondary (homepage)  events module, an "edit" link is displayed along with the event. Clicking this does not allow editing, and returns a dead end page with the error: "You do not have access to view this module within the portal." This is presumably because the event details were reached via the homepage module, for which the site owner does not have edit rights. But then it should not display the link to allow editing?

  • More vanishing events
In the primary events module, the site owner enters two events. One on Saturday the 26th and one on Sunday the 27th. Both events are correctly displayed in Month view, but in Week view, the Saturday event vanishes, no matter which week is selected, it's gone. The Sunday event, however, displays correctly in Week view.

  • The module's "Enable Event Image" setting is not respected.
Images are always displayed unless they are individually removed or disabled within each event. The module setting should disable the images for the whole module when ticked. For example, one might have images in the primary module in Month view, but not haven them in the compact List view oin the secondary module. As it is, the images cannot be turned off in the module settings.

  • And this one is just a suggestion for another day once all the hard bits are dealt with:
The event image ideally needs to size itself according to a module setting rather than be set by the editor per event. This would allow the image to be displayed more suitably per module instance. For example, on the compact list view on the homepage, the image would be rendered as a small thumbnail. On the full month view on a different page, it would be diplayed at a larger size. Currently they are displayed entirely randomly depending on what the user happens to have entered or not entered per event... and as a result, images wreck virtually every view of the module apart from the event details.

Phew!.... my eyes are blurring now... that's a hard module to test-drive and I've only touched on a few small things here... no doubt it's even harder again to develop the code!

I can provide a host login to the test site if any of this needs to be verified, just let me know.

I'm still wondering if it wouldn't be a simpler task to add RSS to the module to deal with this sort of scenario?... but I've also read in the forums that people are using it as a multi-level calendar and I guess that really does require that events are pulled together into one module.

Best regards,
Rob
