Same problem here. It seems to be a caching problem, but a kind of cache which can't be deleted using the following methods :

  • F5
  • Ctrl + F5
  • Host > Clear cache
  • Portals/0/Cache > Delete files
  • Host > Restart application
  • IIS > Kill w3wp.exe
  • IIS > Clear App pool
  • IIS > Reinstall
  • Server > Restart
  • Client > Machine restart
  • Client > Weekly cleaning scripts + restart

So what ?

So, let's have a try with IE7 ... it  works, just perfectly. Every custom configuration is now set, except ... fckconfig.js customizations (for toolbar butons, etc.).

Is there someone who test behind the FCK provider Dotnetnuke project ?

Hi Gary

Thanks for your information, I have following each step very carefully - but it does not work for me, the styles is just blank and it wont even expand .

I have tried several ways to get the FCKEditor to use my custom styles - so far nothing seems to work, I either get rubbish or nothing.

Lynn,

You might want to check out www.dnncreative.com.  Lee Sykes offers a number of video tutorials that explains how to do a huge number of things, including setting text styles in the FCKEditor. You will need to subscribe to the site for a year but you get access to all of the historical tutorials and well as the future ones for the year.

Here is a link to where he covered the text styling:  http://www.dnncreative.com/Home/Issues/Volume1/Issueno9/tabid/260/Default.aspx

Good luck!!

Much thanks and appreciation!! Mr Happy

Better yet for the FCK.xml file:

The example above has element="span" for such custom styles as Title and Topic. The trouble with that approach is that the style won't get applied to the paragraph tag, but with a set of span tags.

Since the editor natively puts <p> tags around each paragraph or block of copy, set element="p" instead. In that way, the paragraph tag itself gets the style attribute and makes for much cleaner code. In addition, the styles can be changed much easier if experimenting with several different styles when applying to a paragraph.

Excellent instructions... thanks so much.  The only problem I had was getting the styles to refresh.  I tried everything.  If I added a new page with the HTML/Text editor, the styles would show up, but the page I originally made the changes to still posted the 'default' styles.  I finally tried to update an 'instance' rather than 'portal' on the page where I originally changed the styles, and this worked to update the editor on that page.

Doesn't make sense, but it worked.  For reference, I am running version 4.8
