Hi

I have downloaded and installed Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition and the DNN 4.5.1 Starter Kit.  I open up VWD and go File>New Website and select the DotNetNuke Web Application Framework from the dialog and ensure that Location: File System is selected.  Clicking OK and then hitting Ctrl+F5 starts the DNN installation wizard in my browser.  I click "Automatic" and at this point I get the following error:

Error Installing DotNetNuke

Current Assembly Version: 04.05.01

ERROR: Could not connect to database specified in connectionString for SqlDataProvider

My default browser is FireFox.  Can anyone tell me how to correct this error?

Thanks in advance.

Richard

This was caused because I hadn't started SQL Server Express.  I still couldn't get the Portal started in 4.5.1 however, but I managed to with 4.4.0.

Hi Middleend

I'm not sure I can be much help: what I needed to do was access the SQL Server Configuration Manager, click on SQL Server 2005 Services and Start the SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) named service in the right-hand pane.  Then I was able to successfully create the DNN Portal using 4.4.1.

I sincerely hope that may be of some use to you.

Best regards

Richard
