I really need some troubleshooting help with this one.  I am using the repository module to build a library reference desk for our school site.  It is a perfect module for getting the job done.  I have set it up and am using the directory template to list resources in categories. Everything works great in FF but in IE 6 or 7 ,when you click the visit link to one of the listed resources, it opens a new window (normal and ok) but breaks several parts of my skin, most all related to my menus.  The top menu changes from a horizontal orientation to vertical.  My side menu's background image gets truncated, and my dnnstuff aggregator tabs break.  I am at a loss to fix it.  I have readjusted widths in my skin, played with floats, etc. but nothing changes this behavior.  Is this related to a javascript error.  I changed the repository template but the behavior persisted.  I changed the site skin to the default dnn blue and the problem went away.  The difference in that skin and my skin is that my layout is done with divs and controlled with css.  Here is the site:

Would someone please view action in FF and then in IE and offer suggestions or hints of what might be causing the problem.   If I can't get it fixed, I can't use it and that would be ashamed since it is a perfect module for what I'm trying to accomplish.

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Paul

Paul, I'm not seeing the behavior you've described. When I click on a 'visit' link a new window opens, but I don't see the problems that you mentioned. One thing I did notice is that occassionally it appears that your stylesheet gets 'lost' as fonts will change. Make sure that any paths you have to your stylesheets are absolute and not relative. Sometimes during postbacks, the current directory can change and that could mean that your stylesheet is not found.

Ok...done.  I changed all the paths in the skin to absolute and changed the ascx file to reflect an absolute path to the skin file.

The undesirable behavior is still there.

Also,  I assume you tried duplicating the problem with IE6 or 7?  I don't know how you didn't see any problems.  I've duplicated it on 3 different machines and several different browsers.  I'm glad you didn't see any problems though, maybe for some reason I'm the only one seeing it.  That seems odd though.

You're a great help,

Paul

Hi Steve,

All my users are seeing the behavior even though you and Lee Sykes both have said you're not seeing it..  I'm not expecting you guys to troubleshoot my skin as I understand a combination of factors may be at play here and pinpointing the exact problem may prove to be difficult.  However, I would like to know if I could employ a work around that avoids using javascript to open a new window when clicking the visit button.  Is this possible?

Thanks,

Paul

Any merit to my suggestion of a work around for opening a link in a new window without a postback?  I assume this may not be as easy as it sounds since I would guess the items the visit link  [DOWNLOAD] references are stored in the db.  I have cleaned and scrubbed my css file and made sure all paths were set to absolute but my skin still breaks and I still have no idea what's causing it.  I have no other problems with my skin in IE/FF with any other modules.  A work around or any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul
