Ok, I have installation of 4.4.1 hosted on websecurestores. I cannot setup smtp server, I keep getting error, no such user here. But user is there, I tested it with Outlook and it works fine. So to recap, server name is correct, user name is correct, password is correct and basic authentication is selected. Here is exact error message:

That's the thing, I put in mail.staffmanaged.com as smtp server and click on test and get this message. Is this problem with hosting company or with DNN? The thing is that Outlook works fine.

I'm pretty sure you've configured mail sending settings correctly and your DNN is sending mail just fine.

The only problem is it's trying to send e-mail to "support@www.staffmanaged.com". Though the existence of such a mail box is possible, it's more likely that the correct e-mail would be "support@www.staffmanaged.com" (that would also explain server responce "No such user here" that is displayed in the error message you've quoted).
