I have an installation of DNN an our development machine: Windows 2000, MSSQL 2000, DNN 4.5.1

My live machine is also, Windows 2000, and MSSQL 2000.

How can I replicate them I guess is the question.

thanks,

Dean

To move from dev to production you would simply copy the database and filesystem to the prod server.

Be sure to setup IIS, and be sure to set the proper permissions on the file system (aspnet account).

Restore the database to your prod machine, or simply attach it if you copied the files instead of a backup from dev.

In the PortalAlias table add the alias for the production URL. Modify the web.config file to point to the proper SQL server.

Those are the basics if you're just looking to move from one server to another.

Chris I followed all the given rules preciesly but I get this error ----------------------------- DotNetNuke Error Windows Server 2003 ---------------------------- Can you guess where I'm having the problem? I tried installing fresh DNN and it worked just fine but when I'm copying the files, the database, and altering webconfig I get the error message. Much thanks in advance
