In a given DNN site install under IIS  (eg. C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\DNNsite) how can I tell which version of DNN that install is?

A few options. If you can login as HOST go to the host/host settings page and it should most likely tell you what version it is there.

If you can access the file system go to the BIN folder in the dnnsite folder and right click on the dotnetnuke.dll file and choose properties, see which version it says it is.
