Okay, I swear I spent more tiem researching this than it will probably take.  I went about 15 pages into the infamous 55 page thread; read dozens and dozens of others.  It seems to be a mixed bag--some get Godaddy to work in the root; some do not.

Has anyone developed a surefire way to install the latest and greatest using a Godaddy account?  I hate to spin my wheels more than I have reding the forums and still not being able to "get 'er done!"

I dropped GoDaddy after playing with VWD and not being able to gain remote access to my database, but it could have been me...total newbie in the asp/DNN world.

Hey, Yeah I have my DNN running on GoDaddy. However I have a dedicated server w/ GoDaddy; I'm not sure if that matters or not.

Yea, dedicated has the security settings set so you can install DNN without jumping through hoops.  I was hoping people were able to install it to the root with, say, a deluxe shared plan...trying to save some jing just starting out until I can justify the premium for a dedicated server.

I'm up and running without a dedicated server. I found a good guide: http://www.mikroproje.com/DotNetNukeArticles/tabid/283/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/89/Default.aspx

Only issue is that you have to create a lot of folders, but otherwise it works. He does however leave out two important folders on page 4. You will need to create two additional subfolders: "App_Code\Survey" and "App_Code\XML"

BTW I don't speak whatever native language that's on the site, but when he specifies to click "Next Page", click "Sonraki Sayfa". I looked for quite a while for the "Next Page" link.

Very nice; thanks.  That looks promising. Since GD has a one month plan, I guess I'll take a shot at it myself...

You aren't, by chance, using Xmod are you?  I am wondering if it will work fine with medium trust that I'll be under at GD....
