I'm sure I'm missing something simple but...

I have a module which I want any registered user to be able to add content to.  If I set the module to allow registered users to edit it, a registered user can see the "edit" buttons by each item but they can't get to the edit page.  If I set the whole page to be editable then everything works fine but the users could potentially change the page itself and get to see all the content areas which is unsightly.

Is there any way to allow users to add and edit content without making the page as a whole editable.

Thanks in advance.

First, which DNN version are you using? AFAIR there have been changes in this area to show the action menu to all users with module edit permission

Second, for previoius versions you can circumvent the need for the action menu by using a container with "add item" action link, link default DNN-Blue.

Thanks for the quick response.  I'm using 4.03.02.  I thought it might be a container issue but tried using default container which has it's "add item" action link.  However when a registered user clicks this in a non-editable page, there is no link at the bottom and there dropdown at the top of the container only offers "help".

I STRONGLY recommend to upgrade urgently, DNN 4.3.2 has severe security issues and you should upgrade at least to DNN 3.3.7 or preferable to Version 4.5.1 with a number of new features and better performance.

This shall also solve your permission issues.

Thanks very much, that has indeed fixed my issues.  Only one final question - I think, the upgrade seems to have worked perfectly but has left an error in the event log showing "System.Web.HttpException: Path '/dotnetnuke/ScriptResource.axd' was not found. at "  I can't see the relevant file in the upgrade folders, what am I missing?

Thanks again.
