I am wondering how I can change my child portals into a parent portal? can it be done?

Yeah, add a domain name to the child portals alias. Like www.childportal.com. But, be aware that the host portal will always show up in the address bar, well, it did to me. Maybe I was doing it wrong. But definetly add the domain to the alias. I think it can be done from Host> Admin> Site Setting> Scroll down to the bottom , edit the child portal and you will see add alias.
