Also, I just installed events on a 4.5.1 installation, and the menu item does not appear there either......note, that AVCalendar is not installed on this instance, if the menu item is conditional on AV being previously installed.

The reason the "Import" does not display is that AVCalendar was not detected.  Not sure what version of the Event module you have installed or how the upgrade effected it.  We need more detail...did the install of Event 3.3.7 go smoothly (did you get an errors?  Is there calendar/event data already in the "Events" table?

The installation went smoothly. No errors for 3.3.7 of DNN and 3.3.7 of the Events module AVCalendar is version 3.0.1

Edit Calendar Calendar (SQL Server) - Moderated Calendar Events and Event Enrollment for DNN 3.0 03.00.10

03.03.07

There is data in the Calendar module and about 4 or 5 calendars created on different tabs.

I created a tab and added a Calendar module and an Events module. Both actions did not display any errors in the Log Viewer. I then added an item to each of the modules and again, no errors were recorded.

It sounds like you've got a beta version or interim version of the Events module...the actual release renamed the tables to "Events" instead of "Calendar".  So, I'm fairly certain the data tables are similar.  You've got 2 options:

1) try to rename (or copy the old table) data yourself to the new tables
2) rekey the data

Without the data and/or tables, it's hard to tell...
