Hi:

I'm wondering if anyone has (or has been able to modify an existing one) a menu solution that will allow me to use image backgrounds for the top level menu structure. Basically, I need to be able to skin the following (see: http://www.lcm-res.com/sample_image.gif ) .

I just need the top level menu to use those green triangle-like containers ... the rest will just be standard dropdowns.

Any ideas? I've tried SolPart and admit that I'm a bit stumped.

Thanks in advance.

Larry

That might be possible, but you really won't be using images for the menu items, you'd be doing assigning different CSS classes for the backgrounds, you'd have 3 states, menu item, selected (hover) and active, assuming active is black in your mockup? The sides of each menu item can include HTML within solpart, though it's not easy to configure. Perhaps someone has a good tutorial for this. I've done this setup a few times, but it's even difficult for a core team member to setup :D

Thanks Chris:

OK, so the sides of the menu would be the triangle portions ... I'll give the solpart menu CSS another try. I inherited this design from some graphic designers ... sigh.

And hello from another Stl resident!

Larry, I'm planning on having a DNN User Group meeting in June, www.dnnug.com for details, whenever I get the date squared away I'll post it there.

Using CSS you can get most of what you need done, though you'll need to use the lefthtml and righthtml attributes of solpart to get the triangles working as well.

Maybe so, but it is possible.

http://march.skincovered.com

http://november.skincovered.com/

http://december.skincovered.com/menus.aspx

These are all Solpart Menus which have been skinned...

http://may.skincovered.com/  uses Snapsis

http://march.skincovered.com also has a snapsis pure CSS menu implemented in it, so while it might be difficult for some, it's possible for others

These are for skincovered subscribers, but, you can download quite a few free skins, one in particular - DesignAway from my http://www.xd.com.au website which, back in 2004, I had created some 'graphical image' backgrounds for the menu, the one with the vertical menu - you can view it http://www.ninasfreeskins.com/designaway/vertical-menu.aspx  This menu uses background images which I'm sure will give you a head start..

So, don't despair, you don't have to be on the core team to be able to skin...
