Hello everybody

I really need help!!!

This is the situation!!!

DNN 4.0.2
Windows 2003 Server
IIS 6.0
MS SQL 2005
Alias
PortalAliasID  PortalID     HTTPAlias
------------- ----------- ---------------------
1        0       www.vanderland.com

(1 row(s) affected)

Intranet IP = 192.168.0.2
Internet IP = 68.9.53.231:9080

Web Redirection = www.vanderland.com -> 68.9.53.231:9080 Cloaked or not (ZoneEdit)

Intranet DNS = www.vanderland.com (192.168.0.2)

Now

Accessing www.vanderland.com locally (intranet) works like a clock (I really love it)

but accessing from the internet, causes an endless loop, puts the server utilization in 98% :-|

This is what I have tested

www.vanderland.com/Portals/0/ri.jpg - [Success]

inserted another Alias = 68.9.53.231:9080 - [Fail]

inserted another Alias = 192.168.0.2 - [Fail]

Change the Alias record 01 to localhost and inserted www.vanderland.com as the next record - [Fail]

Pray - [Fail]
Cry - [Fail]
Kiss the server A$$ - [Fail]

Besides give the server some flowers, I don't know what else I can do.

Is anyone out there, with a DNN installed in the root and access it as root?

Thanks
Van Der

I'm having the exact same problem.  Did you find a solution?

Not Really

I did find a work around.

I did learn that DotNetNuke does not allow us to use Domain name masquering, (cloaked),

I also learn that the local port of my Web server, had to be the same as the one of my Portal on the Internet, in my case 9080.

With this information on my hands, I start trying all kinds of combinations of IP:port.

After many painful tries, I came up with the final setup which is working.

So

  1. Recreated the PortalAlias Table to have a new clean one,
  2. Inserted all of the record (see below) manually,
  3. Changed something on web.config, to force a rebuild
  4. Open the web locally,
  5. Pray

And bingo.

 This is the Path

 www.vanderland.com -> 68.9.236.131:9080  from Internet

 MyPortal:9080 -> 192.168.192.2:9080 from Local (intranet)

This is the Info from the PortalAlias  table

PortalAliasID

PortalID

HTTPAlias

192.168.192.2:9080

2

www.vanderland.com

3

This doesn't have anything to do with limitations in DNN.  It's more a poor networking but nothing wrong with that either.  :)

You were setting up a big local loop and kind of DOSS attacking yourself.  DNN would get a request form your local IP from your Cox accout IP and not having that in the PortalAlias table but IIS saying it was a local request trying anyway but to the 68. network who would send the refresh but .....  and around and around.  :)

Please help! :S

I have the infinate loop problem too.  My networks setup is standard.  The site URL and the entry in the portals table are the same "dnn4.dorkian.com"

Why isn't this working?

PS...Firefox detects this problem and will terminate the request.  If you're using IE, pls don't let your request to run for an extended period of time...it puts stress on the server.

Thanks
