(Sorry, I am not sure if this posted correctly the first time)

I have a very similar problem...

DotNetNuke version: 3.2.0
Windows Server 2003 Small Business Edition
IIS 6.0
Sequel Server 2000

I have installed DotNetNuke, and it works fine when accessing from the machine it is installed on. But when another machine, either from the local network, or the internet, tries to browse it, they are redirected to http://localhost/ and as a result do not reach the website.

In Enterprise Manager, I have tried to change the HTTPAlias in the PortalAlias table from 'localhost' to our web address, but this just creates an infinite loop as it is constantly redirected to the same address. I need to know how to make the website accessible from the outside.

Adeian

Thanks for your reply, but I still not sure how to fix this mess, I really don’t like the Idea of showing my IP on the browser.

Am I wrong saying that DotNetNuke 4.0.3 does not work with Domain Masquering? If yes, Do You have the final solution for my case?

Thanks for your help

Thanks

Vanderlan,

Your best solution would be to host your site somewhere.  There are some good inexpensive hosts out there that would work for you well and protect you from possibly having your internet connection cancled as well as speed up access for people looking at your page.

If you just put  www.vanderland.com in your portals alias it should work fine but you might have problems connecting to it from inside. Try adding Localhost:9080/ for local connections and not the IP address of the box itself.

Ahrensy,

You should only need to change the portalAlias to your registered domain name.  I'm not 100% sure but you might need to restart the application or at least clear the cache to get the change to take.  If there is not reference to localhost in PortalAlias then there should be no way for the refresh to be make with localhost, as there is nowhere that information to come from.  If you are using IE you might want to try closing it and reopening it also. It wouldn't hurt at least.

Try changing the PortalAlias from inside the Hosts settings menu also.

I'm running 4.0.2 on a normal web server.  The portal alias is the same as the domain name ( dnn4.dorkian.com ).  For whatever reason, the site doesn't work.  It continously redirects to itself.

I think there may be a problem with DNN 4.0.2
