Dean,

I also recommend to checkout the membership and User Profile documentation, the module has  a numbe of features, that you don't need to re-implement. E.g. you can force, that the user profile has to be filled in on registration and this is completely customizable.

The only problem with that is that after a user registers, we assign them a username, the users do not choose usernames.

I'm looking at the admin/security/register.ascx and ascx.vb however that isn't what I'm seeing on my register page on my DNN 4.5.5 site.  What code is that?  I need to customize this to our needs with some selects before getting to the registration offering other input fields based on their selections.

Actually - register.aspx has not been used as part of the default registration system for some time.

\Admin\Users\ManagerUsers.ascx.vb  and its associated ascx file actually handle all the rego by default.

Now as to how do you change its layout or add elements in CODE - thats actually not an easy task with the built in system.

Most people who want to customise the REGO page find that the only real option is to build their own module.

Part of the reason for this is tied to the fact that the code is linked together in a couple of seperate control blocks
With user.ascx.vb doing most of the work - thru a dnn propertyeditorcontrol.

While the code is pretty elegant - it does make CUSTOMISING the module really quite messy to say the least.
