Hi All

I installed the latest version of DotNetNuke 4.5.1 on a win 2003 server with iis 6.

I set it up as a website, tweaked the hosts file so that localhost points at www.mywebsite.co.uk. It is on port 80.

It works great but I cannot view it over the works network from another machine.

I have tried accessing it by IP. I thought this would work because it is on port 80 but it just says it cannot find the site etc.

As a last resort I made a virtual folder under the default website and tried to access it like that so it was http://150.204.n.n/DotNetNuke but that doesn't work either. I have other Websites set up like this and I can view them all using this technique.

How can I view the DotNetNuke portal over a network?

Cheers

John

When you say tweaked the host files do you mean on a dns server or the host header record in IIS?  You may need to take care of both of these depending on if your site in IIS is a virtual directory of the default website or a newly created website.  you will also need to add a portal alias entry to reflect your dns and host header entries.  Hope this helps.

If you want to access it via the IP address you must add a portal alias to the site.  SO your new entry would be <ipaddress>/<vritualDirectory> of course substituting the proper values.

Hi Paul

I put entries in the host file on the server so that localhost is directed to the web address and I set the host headers in IIS.

I didn't add a portal alias though so maybe that's why it isn't working. I'm not going to be able to test this until Thursday but I will let you know if it works.

Thanks for your help

John
