OK, I rolled back my web.config and comment the <identity impersonate ="true" />... but, in this case, I get back on my first question : what's the correct syntax of the web.config for activate mixed mode ? (Sorry for the repetition, but your suggested post above shows a web.config structure not similar to mine) ?

The only change that is "required" for mixed-mode is to leave the http authentication line commented out.  But then, that is not really a change as it is commented out by default, so in essence no changes are necessary at all!  *grin*

The <identity> line changes are only necessary if it doesn't work with the default settings.

So, try it with the settings straight from the release.config.  If that doesn't work, mess with the <identity> settings.

There's nothing you need to do to your web.config to have it work in mixed-mode.

  1. Go to Admin->Authentication and set that screen up like is mentioned in the post I linked to.
  2. If it throws an error then you may have to uncomment <identity impersonate="true"/> and change it so that it matches my previous post (but with the correct user credentials).
  3. Try Admin->Authentication again.
  4. If it throws an error again post here and we'll go from there.

Hi again.

I'm back on this subject after some days "out of office" (because from sunday, I'm the father of a wonderful little girl ).

Actually, identification with AD users is operational (Yeah !).

But, of course, I have new questions.

1. Actually, for A.D. identification, the username must be DOMAIN\userID. I would like suppress the "DOMAIN\" and just use the UserID. Is it possble by confiiguration or is it necessary to change the page's sourcecode.

2. I have a problem with "Security roles delegation".
My understanding of the correct usage is : If I define security roles with exactly the same name as AD groups and if I give some rights in DNN for that group, users member of the group in AD are affected by the security role.

My problem is... that's not functionning : for testing, I've defined a security Role "Domain Users" and I've resticted the view rights on a module for that group only. When I log on with a Domain user, I don't see my page. Have you any suggestion for me ?

Thank you in advance (and sorry for my poor english )

Etienne

First, congratulations on the little girl. My daughters are 20 and 18 years old now but they're still my little girls whether they like it or not.

To answer your questions:

1. Someone wrote a script that can be used in DNN 4.x so that you don't have to add the domain name when logging in. I've got the post bookmarked at work and will post it tomorrow when I get to work (unless someone else does first).

2. If the user already exists in the DNN database then they won't be synchronized.Stuart Hilbert coded a fix for DNN 3 that fixed the problem and I updated it for DNN 4. You can find it on my personal site at http://dnn.gmss.org. Just download the version that matches the version of DNN that you're running.
