I have a DNN module (4.5.1) which has  a textbox and a button to do a specialised search.  The user (of course) wants to press ENTER after typing the search string and have the "search button" be the default button on the form.  But there are other modules on the form, and at present the first button seems to be taken as the default.

How do I force the search button to be the default if the user has entered some characters in the search textbox?

Thanks in advance (My javascript skills are flaky...)

There isn't an easy way to get this done, unfortunately.  ASP.NET 2.0 introduced the DefaultButton property on Form and Panel controls, however, in my experience, they don't work in Firefox.  From there, it gets to being an exercise beefing up your flaky javascript, or at least searching Google for a script you can drop onto your page.

Hope it helps,

I have found an opensource default button implementation at:

http://www.binaryintellect.net/products/b87225ba-8728-44e5-b7ce-080fb193927a.aspx

and it seems to work well (so far only tested on localhost and IE7).  Thanks to Bipin Joshi.

It works well in IE7 but not in Firefox (as the binaryintellect site warned).

Is there any technical whizzkid out there who fancies the challenge of tweaking this component (it is opensource) so that it works with Firefox too?
