hm, I should have asked for the version numbers as well. There are at least 4 non core modules:

BreadCrumb
Guestbook
ListX
Snapsis (Pageblaster ?)

Try to temporarily remove the associated files out of the bin folder and check if the issue persists.

If you use Snapsis Pageblaster, you should disable compression and whitespace filter and maybe some caching from host settings, please ask John for appropriate settings.

That didn't do anything.  I'm not using any of those modules.  The Snapsis module is a menu module, not PageBlaster.

I think that I'll restore my old configuration, delete any module I'm not using, compact the database, and try this again.  I'll also make a note of the modules and version numbers that are installed.

But, I'm going to step back, restore to the saved version, and try again.  I'll be back for more help or to report on success.
