For those of us less knowledgeable how do we go about changing this?  I am having this exact problem with a few users.

 I am currently using 4.4.1.  Can this be done in this version or do I need to bump up to 4.5?  Upgrades raise my blood pressure!

Sorry, I can't remember when this setting appeard, but check under User Accounts, User Settings, and if it is not there there you will prob. need to change the code or upgrade.

Thanks Rodney,

I don't see this option in 4.4.1.  How would I go about modifying the email validation code without upgrading to 4.5?  Is this an easy modification such as changing something in the web.config or similar file or is it more involved requiring re-complinng the code?  The latter of which I don't want to get into.  I'm not quite ready to upgrade until I check out all the 3rd party modules I use for compatability.

Thanks

Hmm - I am afraid I am just guessing when I say it is probably hardcoded in the code - one of the core team would probably know...

Have you tried opening the source and searching for the old string?

Hello All;

I have a similar problem in that I am having the email address 4-textx@comcast.net being rejected. I applied the recommeded fix above to regex, but the address is still being rejected.

I am running DNN 4.5.3.

Any ideas from the experts?

Robert

Hey Robert,

Are you sure it is not caching the settings perhaps? You could try a RegEx tester and check if your email works against this expression - if it does then it is probably caching... if not then it needs more tweaking.
