Hi

Running DNN4.5.1. New to module development, just about to start figuring out how to do it for DNN4 (that's another question!). I've got VS2005 and wanted to know how I edit the source of a 3rd party module and then build it again as a PA. I have a few 3rd party ones which I just want to tweak but don't know where to start.

I did try just opening up the source and tried to rebuild but it throughs errors, I think because its referencing dotnetnuke which isn't there...not sure.

Anyone know of a step by step on how you do this? Any help appreciated!

Mark

Hi Mark,

Sounds like you're on the right track. After you open up the project, you are very likely to have several of the reference errors you are encountering. Your first job will be to remedy these references.

Add the missing references to your project via the reference tab on the "My Project" node in your project. There's a good chance that you'll need to add more than just dotnetnuke.dll. Look for the filename in the error list and go from there.

The idea is (perhaps obviously) to get the build down to 0 errors. Let us know what's left after you remedy the missing references and go from there.
