Hey guys, there's something else. The ONE guy in my domain that ALSO happens to have IE7 loaded on his system is working flawlessly! We are not authorized to use IE7, but as the network manager he does what he wants in the name of vulnerability assessment.

So my question to you; your successes, are they using IE7 by chance?  What a long shot, eh?

Jon

Sorry, that isn't the simple answer, ALL of our computers have IE7 on them.  A student can log into a computer, and it will work flawlessly.  I can take the exact same computer, logon as myself, and it will NOT work.  It seems to be some sort of permissions issue.  I thought it might be a problem with adminstrator accounts, but I also tested other staff members (non-administrators) and they don't work either.

Hey Mike, Dan, I noticed something significant.  When it comes to authentication I kept it simple; checkmarks in both the Windows Authentication and Synchronize roles. Use Delegation for the Authentication type and used the NetBIOS name for my domain root (no LDAP strings). Now I click Update. The ONE site that has been upgraded with zero children accesses everything correctly and I get the wonderful OK Triangle. The other site with all the children Fails.

Access GC:   OK
Check Root Domain:   FAIL
Accessing LDAP:   OK
Find All Domains in Network:  Could not access LDAP to obtain domains info

Adding LDAP specific information doesn't help. When I add my domain\username to the User Name: field it authenticates; but still doesn't log me in. I think we need to find out why it quit working the original way.

Mike, is this credible enough to generate a Gemini ticket? Would you like to post it or should I?

Jon

I'll fire up my test computer and add a few portals to see what happens.

A new, clean install of 4.5.1 ran fine with mixed-mode authentication when I added child portals.  I wasn't able to add any parent portals however to test it further...

I also upgraded my site to 4.5.3, no change.
