So are you ever going to confess that you have custom code running?

In general case I didn't change any code in web.config except the machine key and SQL connectionstring when I upgrade DNN.

I didn't modify any code when I install a module, too.

This issue happened on these two case.

The code I wrote here is what I do to reslove this error when I met it.

The twice here I mean.When I got this error, I

Change

    <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" />
to

    <customErrors mode="Off" />

and reload the page.

This error gone

After, I change back to

<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" />

So, the web.config should be the same as the original one. But I got error when I used the original web.config and without problem when I used the final web.config. But the original one and final one are identical.

My experience has been that DNN will throw an exception like this when the web server is too busy to compile the DNN application within a reasonable amount of time. The communication between IIS and the .Net compiler gets broken and DNN displays this type of error.

I don't really think that it is an error, however, simply wait long enough and the error/anomaly will resolve.

Additionally, any time you change the web.config file you initiate an application restart on the web server. This restart will include a recompile of any new code and thus the timeout might be experienced.

Is this on a shared server or on your own box? If your own, you can review the event log and see if there is a .Net error with a timeout message.
