Your site failed the permissions check.

Using Windows Explorer, browse to the root folder of the website ( C:\DotNetNuke by default ). Right-click the folder and select Sharing and Security from the popup menu ( please note that if you are using Windows XP you may need to Enable Simple File Sharing before these options are displayed ). Select the Security tab. Add the appropriate User Account and set the Permissions.

If using Windows 2000 - IIS5

The {Server}\ASPNET User Account must have Read, Write, and Change Control of the virtual root of your website.

If using Windows 2003 - IIS6

The NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE User Account must have Read, Write, and Change Control of the virtual root of your Website.

I've triple and quadruple-checked that NETWORK SERVICE has full permissions for the root of my website - I even gave it full permissions for the whole drive, just for good measure.  The app is using DefaultAppPool, and DefaultAppPool is set to use Network Service.  I don't know what else to try.  Somebody help?

if your website is running using anonymous users, then you'll need to grant permissions to that user also. By default the user begins with iusr_ e.g. iusr_machinename.

Hi i have the same problem.

I wonder why my web.config is like this

<?

xml version="1.0"?><!--

web admin tool to configure settings for your application. Use

the Website->Asp.Net Configuration option in Visual Studio.

A full list of settings and comments can be found in

machine.config.comments usually located in

\Windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework\v2.x\Config

-->

<

<

<

<

<!--

Set compilation debug="true" to insert debugging

symbols into the compiled page. Because this

affects performance, set this value to true only

during development.

<

<!--

configuration>appSettings />connectionStrings />system.web>-->compilation debug="true" />

The <authentication> section enables configuration

of the security authentication mode used by

ASP.NET to identify an incoming user.

<

<!--

-->authentication mode="Windows" />

The <customErrors> section enables configuration

of what to do if/when an unhandled error occurs

during the execution of a request. Specifically,

it enables developers to configure html error pages

to be displayed in place of a error stack trace.

<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="GenericErrorPage.htm">

<error statusCode="403" redirect="NoAccess.htm" />

<error statusCode="404" redirect="FileNotFound.htm" />

</customErrors>

</

</

-->system.web>configuration>

that looks like a default web.config created by vs.net. I would suggest that you rename release.config to web.config to get the correct setup.
