I'm working on a module with multiple controls.  One control has a list box, the second control a text box.  When I select an item on the list box and hit submit I'd like to put the information in the text box on the other control.  I can do this on a standard form as I can directly access the control by name but just can't figure out how to do it with DNN.

Are both of the controls in the same module? If so this tutorial shows a control reading data from another control:

Same DNN module with multiple view definitions.  So what's selected in the list box could be used to control whats shown in the other definition.

Use the Core Blog Module as an example. you can download the source code from the Blog Project page.
