Currently there is not a way to create categories, other than to create specific pages for different Wikis to live on, thus creating different categories.

I think it would be nice to have categories implemented as "tags" similar to blog modules etc. where you could specify a page belongs to one or many tags.

Then have a cloud control to display the tags on the side panel perhaps similar to this like many blogs do. http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/cloud.asp

I can think of two ways you could specify tags per page.  One inline using syntax like most wikis usually do and parse it out.

"Tags: Install, Tag2, Tag3"

or

Allow an administrator to create tags in a UI like you would categories and then display the tags as checkboxes at the bottom of the edit page.  This might be easier to implement using a few database tables like Tags, and PageTags to relate them.

A few ideas.... looking forward to using this module more in my online documentation.  Thanks for all the hard work!

Cheers.

I would love to see Tags get added into the Mix of the Wiki module in a future release. No promises, but it is definitely a goal

I like how screwturn wiki does it.

Here is their category system. http://www.screwturn.eu/Category.ashx

With Taxonomy coming to one of the upcoming releases of DotNetNuke, as noted at: http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=11564&PROJID=2 and briefly at www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Blogs/tabid/825/EntryId/2459/Community-2010-A-Building-Wave.aspx No details on how this gets expressed elsewhere yet, but I presume suport for this will get added to the Wiki module. Any stated roadmap for if this is a high or low priority? You've hinted at a "major spring 2010" release. Care to provide a few crumbs for us to gawk at?!
