AFAIK, no AdSense TOS are being violated by including the DotNetNuke Project ClientID in the search URL.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I really don't understand how you can say that Nik.

Let me make this a little easier.  From the Adsense TOS:

Site and Ad Behavior

Sites showing Google ads should be easy for users to navigate and should not contain excessive pop-ups. AdSense code may not be altered, nor may standard ad behavior be manipulated in any way that is not explicitly permitted by Google.

  • Sites showing Google ads may not contain pop-ups or pop-unders that interfere with site navigation, change user preferences, or initiate downloads.
  • Any AdSense code must be pasted directly into webpages without modification. AdSense participants are not allowed to alter any portion of the code or change the behavior, targeting, or delivery of ads. For instance, clicks on Google ads may not result in a new browser window being launched.
  • A site or third party cannot display our ads, search box, search results, or referral buttons as a result of the actions of any software application such as a toolbar.
  • No AdSense code may be integrated into a software application.
  • Webpages containing AdSense code may not be loaded by any software that can trigger pop-ups, redirect users to unwanted websites, modify browser settings, or otherwise interfere with site navigation. It is your responsibility to ensure that no ad network or affiliate uses such methods to direct traffic to pages that contain your AdSense code.
  • Referral offerings must be made without any obligation or requirement to end users. Publishers may not solicit email addresses from users in conjunction with AdSense referral units.

Maybe Firefox does do something like that in a toolbar, but last I checked DotNetNuke is not owned by Mozilla.
There is a reason FireFox has a code like you pasted above, and DotNetNuke has one like the rest of us.

We can say this because we specifically discussed our usage with a Google rep in person to ensure that we were not in violation.  They have seen how we intended to implement this feature and have said it was ok.  We will certainly continue to stay in touch through our rep to ensure that we stay within the guidelines they have provided and will make any changes necessary if they indicate that there is a problem.

OK, lets civilly and democratically put it up to a vote.

If anyone wants me to stop posting links to my site, then please say so.

Please John,

Continue as you do, inform us of every tips and tricks. It is not necessary to have ALL information here, sometimes I am lost, and I find very useful information in your site and in others (like seablick)

Just a short note:

It seems the Search web and or site option default in DNN4.5.3 is still to display both options but if anyone is having problems with HTML skins just edit the skin.xml file as Shaun said earlier in the thread and then "parse skin package" again from the skin menu if the skin doesn't seem to be updated.

I have to say this is an EXCELENT idea with having it setup to search with your google adsense id.

I have TWO idea for the next release:

Set it up so each different portal can program their adsense ID into it.  Have the Host account have a "default" so if its not overridden, the host can get credit for it.  The Default can ben DNNs, but I dont like the fact that every site has to have it.

Also, the option to turn off the two options at a portal level would be very handy.

I LOOOVVVEEE the new adsense module.  Looks so killer on my site. I hate having to make Text/HTML modules for everything.

Example:  http://www.lvfbody.com

Thanks again!
