I am looking at putting together a social networking site using DNN. I have been looking at the various modules I could use to do this. Unlike myspace and youtube, I would not have unlimited servers and disk space. Using a hosting service, there is a limit to that.

The modules I have looked at such as Ultra Media Gallery do not place those images in the database but in the file system. Is there a way to deal with such space issues in an automated way? In other word, I don't want the administrator to have to remove image files and then remove the link from whatever module they were in.

Any other information on social networking sites and DNN would be appreciated.

storing large files within the database would be a bad idea due to performance and usually higher cost of database space.

I am not aware of a Gallery module, that deletes the physical files when deleting an entry, but imho this would be the correct way to archieve it (and maybe delete all gallery items, when the owner gets deleted).

I can't be the first person that has to consider disk space on a hosted server. An Administrator has to deal with unlimited uploads of images and videos.

What I would like to put in place is FIFO, first in first out, with the first in being an upload and a first out being deleting the image from the server when it exceeds the buffer size, for example, 100 images.
