Hi!

I have an installation running DNN 3.3.7. There I have 5 different sites. Everthing is working quite OK, but nevertheless I'm contemplating an upgrade to 4.3.7 (or whatever the latest .NET 2 version is called). On the main download page, the following text is visible:

DotNetNuke 4.x
DotNetNuke 4.x is the active development branch and is designed to be used with ASP.NET 2.0. Please note that there is automated upgrade path from DotNetNuke 3.x.

... but I cannot find how to do this upgrade. Can anyone please point me in the right direction?

The upgrade process is generally the same from version to version, but from a .Net 1.1 to 2.0 instance you'll need to change the ASP.NET settings in IIS to be 2.0 instead of 1.1

The above link is a blog post I made quite a while ago for upgrading, be sure to read the comments as well.

DNN 4.3.7 = DNN 3.3.7, the only difference being that 4.x runs on ASP.NET 2.0, and 3.x runs on ASP.NET 1.1. The latest DNN version is 4.5.2,

In general, upgrading is easy: just unzip the upgrade package in your application folder, make the appropriate changes to web.config and browse to your site

Thanks, guys.

I will try an upgrade in the near future (after having backed everything up).

Just an update on my upgrading labour:

Everything worked just fine, after I noticed that the SiteSqlServer connectionstring and the SiteSqlServer appsetting was enclosed in "<!-- -->" by default...

Having removed that, I went from 3.3.7 to 4.5.3 in one go. No worries.

Thanks again!
