I've been looking for a module that allows the host to turn off the top Admin Control Panel, but still allows admins access to the Admin pages (site settings, newsletter, log viewer, skins, etc).  I'm hoping there is one out there, but if not I'll have to configure the core as to not display the control panel (which is not something I want to do).

If anyone has an leads on a module, or any type of plug in that would allow this, please post.

You don't need to modify the core to achieve this.  The Control Panel is actually just a control... which is likely implemented in all your skins.  You can actually roll your own control panel if you wish.  We've seen folk completely replace it with a nice floating panel, for example.

If you look in Admin\ControlPanel... you'll see both implementations.  It would be a simple matter to create your own that would only display for a SuperUser.  Here's an example of an alternate Control Panel implementation: http://demo.dotnetnukeskins.com/cpdemo.html

You know you can also minimise it by changing the settings in the host/settings/advanced/other settings you can see a dropdown menu that allows you put in the Classic bar which is much smaller.

But yes the floating control panel is handy!

I have a similar issue as brettuthius. I actually don't want the control panel to show for registered users -
just the admins.  By default on my hosting site it was installed where if  person can read/write a blog, they
can also delete the blog page.  Kinda dangerous.   How does one disable the control panel based on authen-
tication?

Thanks for your replies.

I forgot to mention that this is a hosted DNN with godaddy.com and it's not easy to modify any source code.

The issue is that I cannot allow a fellow blogger or anyone viewing a page to be able to open the control panel, because then they can delete the page.  How do you set the control panel to only show if you're the admin?
It needs to be able to see the authentocation of the login and not show the control panel to guests.

Thanks.  I hope this clarifies things.
