I would like to setup DNN for two domains each with thier own portal as shown here:  Multiple Portals

I have DNN properly running for one domain, but I do not understand how to setup the second domain. DNN is installed in its own directory set as an ASP.NET application.  The first domain points to this application and works.  The second domain can only point to the root web and not the sub-folder where the DNN is installed without paying an additional fee.  It does not appear that I can install DNN in the root directory.

Is anyone else using WebHost4Life with multiple domains and portals? How do you direct your domains to the DNN install?

You can install DNN in the root directory, but you have to ask support to set up the directory permissions for the NetworkServices account.  The might give some push back giving write access to the root, but I told them I was using DNN and needed to have it setup this way and they did it for me.

One that is done then you just point both site URL's to the same IP address and make sure you have an entry for each site in the site alias table.  Login as host and go to the bottome of the Site Settngs page to add aliases.  I'd add the 2 site aliases before moving all the files to the root directory.

You just have to pay the fee to add the additional domain to the subfolder. It's an irritation when you first find this out, but it's dead cheap and the other hosts are all the same, or don't have the option at all. Basically you're looking at just over a Dollar a month per additional domain including email services. If you have a bigger account, you get a certain number of domains included. I think it was 4 on my old Premium account and is 10 on my VPS.

After you add the domain, just point it via the control panel to the DNN instance and add the new portal. You usually need to set that domain to the correct ASP.Net version as well. All of the above and the permissions are done via the control panel. If the permissions setting times out, ask the support to do it for you... and tell them it times out.
