In the 3.1.12 version of the gallery it would be any file that ends in .vb

In the 4.x versions of the gallery there isn't a gallery.dll anymore.  There is a namspace of "dotnetnuke.modules.gallery" (along with some other ones eg. dotnetnuke.modules.gallery.config, etc) which will contain all of the files in the app_code/gallery/... directory along with basically everything under desktopmodules/gallery/...  You can look in the code and if one of the first lines is like "Namespace DotNetNuke.Modules.Gallery" then it gets compiled into that namespace.
