By the way...

Web Developer Toolbar for Firefox is awesome for messing with the CSS. I can't believe how much this tool helps when trying to troubleshoot CSS. You can bring up all CSS related to any site on the net and manipulate it live (at least so it seems - of course it's just a copy of everything in your browser, and you can't save anything... but you can copy/paste to your real CSS files).

Sorry. It's the #&%¤% forum - it's a known issue, but it's the first time it actually pulled that on me :(

Here goes with the CSS:

I'll try this and I appreciate that you've taken time to answer my question. However, I'm not sure it addresses the problem. The submenu isn't part of this. Your method describes two colors: one for the entire menu and one for the root menu item.

I need three colors: root menu items not tabbed, root menu item tabbed, and sub menu items. I'll try it and see what happens.

Oh, I missed that one - sorry.

Is there a reason for this in your ascx:

rootmenuitembreadcrumbcssclass="MainMenu_RootMenuItemActive"

instead of this:

rootmenuitemactivecssclass="MainMenu_RootMenuItemActive" ?

Maybe I am missing something but that eliminates the tabbed menu center graphic because it has to be controlled by the breadcrumb. it only works if the current page is actually a the page found directly on the main menu and not on the sub menu. See screenshot. it also doesn't seem to change the color of the text even if the active page is the same as the main menu. That color specification seems to be ignored.

See screenshot:

I see - never really worked with tabbed menus before.

Perhaps you need to use both rootmenuitembreadcrumbcssclass and rootmenuitemactivecssclass to make it work? Anyway, I don't think it's a good idea to use

rootmenuitembreadcrumbcssclass="MainMenu_RootMenuItemActive"

when you can set

rootmenuitemactivecssclass="MainMenu_RootMenuItemActive"

and/or

rootmenuitembreadcrumbcssclass="MainMenu_RootMenuItemBreadcrumb"

Last tips I can offer: Out-comment all CSS related to the menu and start over line by line - be very systematic. Alternativly, find a DNN site with a nice tabbed menu and use a web developer browser plugin to view it's CSS.
