Hello DNN members,

This is really causing me headache... :-)

I've installed DOTNETNUKE but by default it got installed on a sub-folder so now if anybody has to visit my website they would need to type in the name of the subfolder along with the name of the website. Ex: if www.dotnetnuke.com is the website then the users would have to type in www.dotnetnuke.com/dnn to visit the website.

Now the problem is my website is on a shared hosting plan with some company and have informed me that they will not make any changes to IIS configuration.

I can write a script to redirect the users to the appropriate folders from the main page but that's taking a lot of time for re-direction.

Could anyone please help me resolve this issue. I'd like my website to show up as soon as a user types in www.websitename.com

Thank you,

Saleem

Saleem,

I know of a few things to try:

1. If the host is GoDaddy, I found a number of sites telling how to install into the root there. Here's one: link

2. redirect using a meta tag in the <head>:

     <meta http-equiv="REFRESH" content="0;url=http://www.domain.com/dotnetnuke/">

3. use a frameset to show the virtual directory from the root.

4. or buy a virtual machine hosting package and set it up yourself

good luck,

Brad Williams
