I have had this problem on two DNN installations 4.5.0  and 4.5.1  -- periodically Web.config gets changed by itself for unknown reason (I mean no human was touching it, so it must be DNN itself), and the changed version contains a setting to start DotNetNuke installation wizard.

So when you go to a site you see the DotNetNuke installation wizard page instead of your home page.

Being hacked is unlikely. Has anyone seen a similar problem?

Thanks.

Set the "AutoUpgrade" value to "false" in your web config.

I think it's quite compareable to my sitiuations.
I noted what you descibed happens seldom when a debugging session fails/crashes in the vs2005. Has anyone observed the same occurrences or has deep information how that can be prevented (I think autoupdate is not the soley solution)?

jascht,

You might be on to something there....I bet it is modifying the web.config on failure, possibly removing the installation date key or soemthing of that nature.

Hi Mitchel!

Yes it does/write something in the web.config. It does only happens when VS2005 crashes. We I restart/debug my solution then occurs this error (that's the reason I backup my databases and solution when I've reached each mini milestone in my solutions).

Are you sure it's really the installation date?

thanks for your help
