Ok, so far i've gotten this on all 3 hosted installs i've tried, on two different hosting services. This is 4.5.3, full install package, new installation. SQL database created and empty. Start the install, verify that permissions are ok (and read/write is on all directories and files). Database connection tests ok, and is dbo (SQL Server 2005). When it gets to the module install, I select NONE of the options, so that only HTML and Links are selected (and these cannot be unselected).
It ALWAYS fails on HTML install:
Error Installing Module(s):
HTML (04.05.00)Error Installing Module(s):
Links (03.03.07)
My only solution to date has been to delete and reupload everything, then start all over -- usually after doing this 2 or 3 times, it works. Of course it is a 90 minute cycle to do the upload, so it kinda sucks.
When I reported this before, others had the same problem. There is something wrong with the install process, or at least the verification steps are incomplete if this is a permissions problem.
I CANNOT view the log (as one user suggested) since you cannot proceed past this point and actually run the portal -- all you can do is try, over an over again, as the install wizard keeps you on this step.
This really needs to be sorted out. I'd estimate about 8 hours have been wasted in reuploads, which eventually resolve it all, but without any explanation. This would almost certainly mean a bug in the installer, and a sort of deal-killer at that.
I HAVE gotten past this point on another DNN install on this same ISP, after several tries, so I doubt the hosting service is at fault here.
What can be done to resolve this once and for all -- had this problem on 4.5.2 as well.
