I have done two things already for the next version which may make your life easier.  I have added Private Messaging and added the hooks for blocking individual users.  I haven't decided how one should be able to do this, but the data structure is already there and looked at before each post.  I have also added a MemberList (aka Directory).  Both of these are optional and set in the modules General Settings new Category called Community.

I still think all these other things you mention belong in profile and between a few custom mods to this module and a new profile provider, it should be about as easy as possible to get what you need without this module building for it directly.

all these new features sound quite nice. while we're on the subject of profiles and the seperation of forum and user profile, are avatars going to be implemented in the next release? some great functionality on this path might be to allow the admin to set width, height, and file size limitations on the avatar.

Could you also leave a way to disable the private messaging feature if needed?  Due to federal requirements, we cannot provide e-mail accounts to students unless they are moderated, and private messaging would violate that rule.

There is already avatars.  Also, these can have a set width/height, its all up to your gallery integration settings.  Use the Gallery Wizard to adjust this.

Danball,

Yes, this module has an on/off for the use of PM.  It also has it on/off per user.  I would not add anything like this and force people to use it.  Any additional items of this magnitude will have the ability to turn them on/off.

Good to hear, thanks for the reply!
