Sorry to have to claim newbie status after so long with DNN, but how does one upgrade a core module? I don't find instructions in the Repository or Blog module downloads. I'm sure it is simple but I don't see where this is documented.

Online help has www.dotnetnuke.com/About/DotNetNukeOnlineHelp/tabid/787/TID/1406/cid/114/Default.aspx - but that doesn't talk about upgrades.

The FAQ section doesn't have anything.

Like a basic guide for upgrading DNN itself (see www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/mid/2108/threadid/142971/scope/posts/Default.aspx for a super guide), I would think this would either be linked to from the Download page, or noted in a README in the root of a module download.

The Host's "Modules Definitions" page notes that an update is available, but selecting it just starts the download, and doesn't say what the next step is! I don't see any options in the context menu.

Sorry for missing what everyone else seems to just intuit! Or is there majical source of documentation that I'm missing?! (Admittedly I'm not a big fan of downloading and wading through PDFs, I'd rather find the right help available in the right context.)

THANKS!

- Juan

If you upload the package just like you were installing it as a new module, it will automatically upgrade.  In the module definitions page from the Host menu, there is an option on the action drop down at the upper left of the control to install a new module, which will let you upload the package you downloaded, and then install the updates.

Well - that is simple. Thanks Brian!

(Everyone, would it clutter things up to add "/Upgrade" to the Module Definitiion's page context menu as an aid to others -- or at least to the help there?)

[Edit:] Added to http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=5793 as an enhancement.
