Dear Forum,
I need some help setting up the connection to my SQL Server. I have a Windows 2003 WebServer (there I have installed DNN 4.0.2) and I have a Windows SQL 2000 Server. I defined a database on the SQL Server and I have a defined User and Password.

I did some changes in web.config, but I am not sure if those changes are correct, because I am getting the following error message. Dear Forum, please help me!

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error

The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)

It looks like you are attempting to connect to SQL 2k5, not 2k.  Please let us know which you are using.

The error message is definitely a SQL server 2005 (or Xpress) message, so there is a problem in your connection Strings.  Can you post them here (xxx out the passwords) so we can see them and advise.

I am having the same problem, but with SQL Server 2005.

Here is my connection string: Server=Mobile1\Dev2005;Database=DotNetNuke;uid=xxx;pwd=xxx
