I just installed DNN 4.5.3 today as a fresh install. Fresh DB, IIS and install. The install went without much of a problem but I can't access my page. The install says the everything is already installed, I watched it install without any errors. But when I try to access my page I keep getting an error of some kind. I've been working through these slowly all day.

I've hit a point with errors now where I am getting, "Directory Listing Denied. This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed." I found out that if I go to IIS and allow directory browsing I end up inside of the /install directory. I checked a few things and yes, IIS home directory is pointing to my DNN dir, default.aspx is in the docs tab and moved to top, and enable default content page is checked. ASP.net version is 2.0, IIS 6.  I also added the install date to the web.config file.

Any help would be great!

Thanks
Tony

I just wanted to check up with you. How is your install coming? Are you making an "install" installation or a "source" installation. Aside from not mentioning whether you gave the Network Service/ASPNET services full permissions on your physical directory, it seems as if you have things set up pretty well. I hope everything is working out for you.

Good luck,

Mike

Yeah, actually I did get it installed. I had to go in and do a full uninstall and reinstall it again. Somewhere something must have gotten mixed up.

hi any idea what you did during the install to get it working - I've tried deleting the virtual root and files and re installing from the install zip and re-creating the db and still get this problem of re-directing to the install folder - I've granted permissions to all the users and full control on everything but still no luck

Any help appreciated - I've installed on a another website on the same virtual server with no problem but can't get this one working

Well, when I found I had a bad install I removed the directory completely, I removed all mention of it in IIS, and I completely removed the db.

When I installed it, I followed the instructions, the part I got caught up on was the DB. The web.config is initially set to use SQL Express. Make sure you move the comments to allow it to your 2000/2005 SQL if that is what you are using. Put your user credentials and database in there..  I also had to specify my server there...      ie:  server1/DNN_DB      When running the install don't use auto, I went with typical and tested my settings on the way.

I know I wasn't too specific in this... If you still have problems let me know more detail on them and I'll see what I can help you with.
