Hi,

I managed to install DNN by using the Auto method installation (which was suggested in another thread).  The Typical and Custom methods could never work for the local machine installation.

To make the Auto method to work, there should be a valid connection string in the web.config file

   <add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=serverxxx;Initial Catalog=dbname;User ID=username;Password=pwd" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

By the auto method, default users Host and Admin will be created with dnnhost and dnnadmin as the passwords respectively.

Hi,

I have the same problems when installing it locally on my pc.  First when using the wizard i got the connection info allright caused it passed the test connection but it never passed the screen where it tries to install the scripts.

After that i dropped my database and recreated it and made sure that my sql user was in the scheme as a dbo_owner. I tried to install in manually so in the web.config i disabled the wizard and rerun the installation. When i tried to install it in the old fashioned way i got the following error thrown at me:

Server Error in '/WebAPP' Application.

Violation of UNIQUE KEY constraint 'IX_Version'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.Version'.

Does anyone know what i can do about this?

Thanks in advance,

Marc

Hi all,

It has got something to do with the latest starterkit.  I just reinstalled the 4.5.2 starterkit and did exacty the same procedure (no wizzard install, in case of any errors) and it went OK.

So i'm just gonna upgrade this version to the latest.

Thanks anyway,

Marc

Yes, when i read another thread regarding same issue, i found that delete/rename of web.config and installation wizard solves problem.
