I'm totally new to DNN so let me apologize in advance for what might be a dumb question. How do you use the Stylesheet Editor to change styles? I am logged in under the host account of one of my child portals. I make changes, save them, and then update but there is no change reflected in any of the pages. Is my syntax wrong? Here's an example.

/* background color for the content part of the pages */
Body
{
color : #000000;
}

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Ted

You should use background-color:#000000; you tried to change the text color and for that you should use

.normal{

color:#FFF000;

}

Also, if you are just getting started with CSS, I'd reccomend the Visibone Browser book, it is a great cheat-sheet for all types of browser code (CSS, XHTML, Java, DOM, etc) http://www.visibone.com/products/browserbook.html  I always keep mine within arms reach for quick reference.

I use background-color:#000000;  like u said in the stylesheet editor but it just doesn't seem to work. Moreover, the image I had place in the header went missing everytime I hit the update button.

A couple things to try:

- Use the View | Source command on your browser to see what is getting spit out to the browser. Maybe the text is there but in the wrong place - or maybe it is not getting spit out at all.

- Consider editing \Portals\_default\Skins\DNN-Blue\skin.css directly (make a copy of the original first!)

- Download the IE Dev Toolbar (www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e59c3964-672d-4511-bb3e-2d5e1db91038&displaylang=en), then click View DOM, then click Select Item By Clicking; then click on some item on your web page and it'll show you the associated style for it.

You can also directly enter HTML/styles within any HTML/TEXT module, just to ensure things work as you expect.

good luck!
