Hi everyone,

I'm new to the DotNetNuke community and these forums and was hoping that maybe some more experienced users would be able to provide me with some help.

I am currently in the process of searching for free DotNetNuke skins/themes for use in a portal that is under development.  Unfortunately, it seems like I've hit a wall.  I've been tediously conducting Google searches over the past 24 hours and have visited at least 25 sites advertising "free DNN skins" - unfortunately, they all seem to be offering the same 10-15 skins, none of which are particularly in line with what I'm looking for.

My fingers are crossed that you guys might know of some hidden or untapped resources I may be overlooking.  Maybe there are some unpublicized sites or skin sharing communities out there...or maybe even some of you (or your friends) design and offer free skins.  As I stated earlier, I've already been to many, if not all, of the sites that come up in a Google search (eXtra Dimensions, DNNskins.com, Nina's Free Skins, AllDNNSkins.com, BlueFactor.net, etc).

Thank you in advance.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

Daniel, unfortunately I don't think you'll find much. I've never had much luck finding many good free skins. I generally resort to creating my own when it comes down to it for that very reason.

Chris...

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I am not against the idea of designing/creating my own skins, but this is definitely something I would need more information about.  Are you aware of any comprehensive tutorials or "how to's" out there?  I have already downloaded the DotNetNuke Skinning Guide from the Documentation page...

What sort of skin are you looking for?

Are there commercial skins that are up to your requirements? Is the problem that free isn't as good as paid for or is it something else?

Just interested to hear...

Isomies...

I would like something somewhat simple, yet visually attractive.  Something with a tabbed horizontal menu interface would be ideal.  Our corporate colors are red, black, and gray...so some combination of those would need to be incorporated.

To go into a little more detail, and indirectly respond to your question, we are looking to create a corporate portal where members of our organization can sign in to access information, announcements, upload/download documents and assets, etc.  Previously, we had all of this taken care of by a third party vendor's fee-based services.  We have decided to try and get away from this, house our portal on our own server, and go as fee-free as possible.

So, yes, there are commercial skins that would work wonderfully toward our efforts; however, we'd like to explore all other options first.  And in the limited number of free skins I've found available on the Internet, no, the quality of and options available for these skins are far inferior to those that are paid.

Hope that helps.
