I have a 4.5.3 installation that I am trying to use AD integration on.  I have set my domain name, and given it a proper user acocunt on the domain.  I get an error when I save the settings and if I try to login I get the standard login not valid message.

The error I get is

Error: Windows Authentication is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Security.Authentication.ADSI.Utilities.AddADSIPath(String Path, Path ADSIPath) at DotNetNuke.Security.Authentication.ADSI.Utilities.GetRootEntry(Path ADSIPath) at DotNetNuke.Security.Authentication.ADSI.Utilities.GetRootEntry() at DotNetNuke.Security.Authentication.ADSIProvider.GetNetworkStatus() at DotNetNuke.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationController.NetworkStatus() at DotNetNuke.Modules.Authentication.AuthenticationSettings.cmdAuthenticationUpdate_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Now, the funny thing is that i have a 3.3.5 site on the same machine with AD integration enabled and have provided it the same user account and it works as desired.

ANy ideas?

Mtichell, I've run into this before on earlier versions (before I took over the project ) and the only way I was able to get around it was to clear the Authentication info from the ModuleSettings table and try again. I don't know why it sometimes fails and haven't been able to consistently reproduce the error to step through it.

I will give that a shot tomorrow and see if it works.

I have to get this going, I was given an opportunity to be given the time to rewrite the modules I support here at work to migrate from 3.3.5 to current as long as I can continue to have the AD integration!

It might be a better idea to work with version 4.5.0, everything since then seems to have some issues with AD authentication.
